Blog 3: (Fiber optic) Internet, it never breaks down, does it?
12. June 2020
Yesterday I heard on the radio that Vodafone-Ziggo was experiencing a major nationwide outage and that some major hospitals are having poor service.
Which brings me to the following question: does your company have a backup if your connection goes down? Perhaps now is the time to consider that?
I assume without question that these hospitals have one and possibly multiple backup connections so that they can continue to work without too much disruption. More and more work is being done from the cloud and then an Internet connection is crucial. Hence, a backup is a logical addition to maximize accessibility.
The impact of not being reachable, not being able to continue working, payment terminals not working and ultimately not being able to serve your customers optimally is great.
One can do whole calculations on what the cost would be if something like this happened in your business, but the cost of a 4G backup connection has become so low that you can save that trouble. For a few euros a month, you already have a 4G backup connection and it works on all Dutch and foreign (EU28) mobile networks.
Feel free to contact me if you would like to know how to set this up or make it happen, I would be happy to help.
